Blackout: Refugees on Australia's doorstep forever

Both sides of politics in Australia have swayed the people against the UN charter on refugees. According to the charter:

"A someone who is unable or unwilling to return to their country of origin owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion."

The people on Naura and Manus Island seeking refuge in Australia fit this description and have every right to enter Australia. Official Australian policy on both sides of politics wants to dodge this responsibility yet for the sake of good PR continue to court the UN regarding refugees. It is this unforgivably ugly dance of tyranny against helpless people and professing commitments to the UN on refugees that has become a political card.

Refugees currently living in Australia partake in some of the most hard labour, sub working-class jobs. These are jobs that nobody but they are willing to do; like cleaning the 100s of Westfield mall toilets, food courts, bins and sanitation. Also, working in nursing homes looking after a growing white aged population. We all know, through regular reports and inquiries that the nursing home sector is horribly understaffed and poorly managed. Of course, we know that some refugees go into skilled work and the business sector as well. Thus, the politics of offshore processing actually affects our parents and grandparents.

This is clearly a racial policy and counterproductive to our community and to our humanitarian standing on the world stage. We the people should oppose the government's attempts to label them as a burden on our system, which is a part of a large western move to scapegoat refugees in order to score political points for lack of policy on jobs, free education, health and social services.

We believe that the reasons for such scapegoating is a nod to the 'new world order' which actively works against the middle and working class in the 1st world. So next time you see the anti-refugee politics or hear anti-refugee rhetoric from your friends, family and associates remember a vote against refugees is a vote against yourself and your families.
